Ascendia Pharmaceutical Solutions Provides Forum to Advance Drug Development

Enthusiasm and innovation were the themes of Ascendia Pharmaceutical Solutions’ third annual technical workshop held in early October. More than 100 pharmaceutical and biopharma professionals gathered for two days of highly informative presentations, immersive conversations, and unique networking opportunities – all designed to advance drug development for the betterment of society.

Shaukat Ali, Ph.D., Senior Director of Scientific Affairs and Technical Marketing for Ascendia Pharmaceutical Solutions, assembled an impressive list of speakers for the third consecutive year. Headlining the Advances in Nanotechnologies for Improving Solubility and Efficacy of Molecules Across All Modalities workshop were preeminent leaders in academia and drug companies. All told, 19 presenters shared research and advances that are shaping the current and future of drug development.

According to Ascendia Pharmaceutical Solutions President and Founder Jim Huang, Ph.D., the technical workshop is part of the award-winning CDMO’s commitment to the market.

Forum for Conversation

Nine presentations were given on the first day and ten speakers took the stage on day two. Each expert addressed modern-day challenges and insight as to how to best overcome them. The goal was to find mutual common ground on drug development with small molecules, large molecules, and biologics across all modalities. Each day began with keynote presentations:

• Day 1 – Robert Prudhomme, Ph.D., professor, Princeton University, who spoke on formulation and processing of mRNA lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).
• Day 2 – Samir Mitragotri, Ph.D., professor, Harvard University, who discussed ionic liquid-based therapeutic applications.

Other topics throughout the two days included multiple presentations on amorphous solid dispersions and advances in various delivery systems.

Another key element of the two-day workshop occurred off stage. The event provided networking events throughout the day and evening. Many attendees furthered their conversations and insight in one-on-one and small group discussions. These impromptu talks have been one of the more popular elements of the workshop every year since Ascendia Pharmaceutical Solutions began the technical series in 2023.
